Tarso Voon

The Tarso Voon is a 3.100 meter high Stratovolcano
in the north of the Republic of Chad
. It is located in the western center of the Tibesti Mountains
.
The summit of the mountain is dominated by his 14 x 18 km large and relatively flat Caldera
. Extensive basaltic flows lie on the northeastern side in a 180-degree arc, its a result of the high activity in the Quaternary period. In his neighborhood in northwestern direction is the Ehi Mosgau located, he is a Stratovulcano with the same evelation, 3.100 meters above the sealevel. Deposits of pyroclastic clouds are found in 15 to 35 km around the caldera. The mountain was constructed over a basement of Precambrian

The well known Soborom Solfataric field is the largest in the Tibesti Mountains, it is located about 5 km in western direction of the summit rim. His active fumaroles, active mud pots and active hot springs are visited by the people of the Tibesti for medical purposes.
