Tasrail is the Government of Tasmania

Established under the Rail Company Act 2009, in September 2009 the Tasmanian Government and Pacific National formally entered into a business sale agreement for purchase of the Tasmanian rail business. TasRail was created combining these above rail (rolling stock) and business assets with the below rail assets (track and associated infrastructure) for which the State had assumed responsibility for in 2007, forming a vertically integrated
