s), bringing in Tipton's college friend Ryan Amos (bass guitar

) in May 2004. They played their first gig

 on 14 June 2004 at the Royal National College for the Blind in Hereford, playing only four song

s. The first public gig (supporting local band, Hostile Agenda) was offered to them three hours before doors opened. As Tastyhead had not rehearsed (or even seen each other) since the first gig, they had to make four songs last half an hour. After this shambolic show the band started rehearsing and writing original material.

Many line-up changes occurred during the band's first year until they brought in Matt Rees on guitar and Ben Davies on bass (both ex Hostile Agenda).

In December 2006 Tastyhead released their first record

In July 2007 they parted company with longtime drummer Hugh Pawsey. They used various other drummers after his departure.

Tastyhead were the subject of controversy when the song "Newton Farm" from their debut EP offended the inhabitants of a Hereford district of the same name. The group were invited onto BBC Hereford & Worcester's breakfast show and Friday Session programmes to defend the song. This appearance offended more listeners when the group jokingly described their typical fan

 as "fourteen, on drugs and easy".

Following the band members change in musical interests Tastyhead broke up late in 2009 with most of their members forming PlaneCrasher.
