in the Lumbini Zone
of southern Nepal
. The city is located within the historical Kapilvastu area. At the time of the 2001 Nepal census
it had a population of 27,170 people. The Tauleshwor Nath Temple in Kapilvasut is believed to have worlds biggest Shiva linga.
