He made his first grade debut for the Parramatta Eels in round 1 of the 2008 season against the Canterbury Bulldogs. Since then he has been able to keep his first grade spot (mainly wing) playing 20 games and scoring 8 tries. He is currently second for the Eels in metres gained just behind captain Nathan Cayless. With this archievement he went on to win Parramatta's Rookie of the Season award in 2008.
Although born in Sydney, Tautai is of Samoan and New Zealand descent. Because of his heritage, he was named in the Samoa training squad as well as the New Zealand training squad for the 2008 Rugby League World Cup
. However, he failed to make the final squad for either side due to injury.
He will return to his former club the Parramatta Eels
for the 2012 and 2013 NRL seasons.
