Telecast (band)
Encyclopedia
Telecast is a Christian
worship band. The band began in Spokane, Washington
with Josh White and guitarist Brian Ortize after the grunge
movement. Telecast released its debut album, The Beauty of Simplicity, on BEC Records in 2003, and followed it with Eternity is Now on the same label in 2005. In 2008 they released their album Quiet Revolution.
The Followers, a 2009 project from White, is a bit of a departure from the more readily accessible works of his past. The album is an honest and contemplative worship experience that leans more on atmosphere than hooks. Its strength lies in the lyrical content, which includes a reworking of several forgotten hymns as well as the band's deftly executed arrangements. The record is a memorable experience which may require several listens to catch all its nuances but is well worth the effort. Also featuring former members of Rock and Roll worship Circus, Ruth, Esterlyn, and Starfield. .
In March 2010, White began recording a solo-project through the church he pastors, Door of Hope, to be released summer of 2010.
Brian Ortize is now the worship pastor at Reality L.A, in Los Angeles, California.
