Tempo, Ontario is a former neighbourhood in London, Ontario
, just South of Lambeth
. Tempo no longer goes by Tempo, just London. Its residents usually call the area "South of the 401 overpass".
Tempo is mostly farm land and houses, with a few businesses- such as farmer's markets and gas stations. The former neighbourhood borders Elgin County, Ontario
, and Scotsville.
Tempo is basically a couple miles-long stretch of land, and most of the residents are the descendants of ancestors who moved to the area when immigrating to Canada in the 19th century. Most of residents are Christian- mostly Protestant and Presbyterian, but also with a Catholic minority.
There was one church in Tempo, called Tempo Presbyterian Church, which hosted to the local residents until it closed down in the first decade of the 21st century due to low attendance. It had opened in the mid-19th century, and catered to the population of Tempo. There were small fairs on the property, featuring dinners, face painting and other fun activities, on special occasions. The building still stands, unused.
The children who live in Tempo attend primary school in Lambeth
, but can also attend other schools. Not many public schools will send buses to the area, so choices are slim.
Tempo is just North of the Ford Assembly Plant in Elgin County. The farms in the area are mostly cash crop, but there are a few cash crop/livestock mixed farms. The livestock raised are cattle and sheep, and the main grown crop are corn and beans.
There are two farmer's markets in Tempo- Farmer Jack's, and Thomas Brothers Market, both of which sell locally grown fruits and vegetables, along with local meats.
There are two gas stations in Tempo, both South of the 401 overpass, both of which cater to 18-wheel trucks and regular automobiles.
There is a hotel in Tempo, just off the 401 overpass, just across from the church.
