History
Terra Community College was founded as Vanguard Technical Institute in September 1968 as a night school at Vanguard Vocational Center. In 1969, The Ohio Board of Regents declared Vanguard Technical Institute to be a state institution of higher learning authorized to grant the Associate Degree in Applied Business and the Associate Degree in Applied Science. In 1973, the college was renamed Terra Technical College. Work began in 1969 on a new campus for Terra on Napoleon Road west of Fremont, and Roy Klay Hall, the first building, was named in honor of Terra's founding president. Terra Technical College became Terra StateCommunity College in the summer of 1994 and Associate of Arts and Associate of Science were added to the Associate of Applied Science degrees granted by Terra.
