Great Western Railway

The Great Western Railway was a British railway company that linked London with the south-west and west of England and most of Wales. It was founded in 1833, received its enabling Act of Parliament in 1835 and ran its first trains in 1838...

 in 1925 and closed in 1932. A significant number of station amenities were supplied but failed to improve patronage at the station, which ultimately led to its closure.

The station site is a rarity in that, despite the removal of the line 33 years after the station closed, it is almost totally complete. The waiting room on the down platform is today used as a Park Ranger station.
