Lane Configuration
Loop 289 is a complete loop freeway with 4 to 8 mainlanes. The freeways has frontage roads for nearly the entire route. It is one of the only 3 complete freeway loops in Texas, the other 2 being IH-610 and BW-8/Sam Houston Tollway in Houston. At certain junctions, the freeway widens up to serve exit only lanes. At most interchanges with other highways, there are partial to full access ramps, that directly serve the mainlanes or frontage roads.
