People are mostly Muslims. The most eminent person born in thakurdwara is Professor Govind Swarup, F.R.S, the eminent scientist of international fame. The oldest temple called as Sri Ram Durga Temple near SDH inter college was established in 1820 by Sahu Puran Prasad. The Hanuman Idol of the temple is said to be having supernatural powers and worshippers from across the country visit the temple with their wishes.
