The Agenda with Steve Paikin is the flagship current affairs
program of TVOntario
, Ontario’s public broadcaster. The show practises what anchor and senior editor Steve Paikin
calls "long-form" journalism. Each hour-long program tackles no more than two topics, and often only one. "We give people what they tell us they want: more intelligent analysis, and more robust, thought-provoking debate and discussion among newsmakers and experts," Paikin says.
The show airs weekdays on TVO at 8 and 11 pm. Content is available on demand online at tvo.org and through mobile media.
During the 2007 Ontario provincial election campaign
, The Agenda provided extensive coverage, with leaders discussing and debating their parties' platforms, candidates from across the province talking about concerns in their regions and the people of Ontario acting as citizen correspondents, speaking up about issues in their home town. The Agenda plans a similar exercise for the 2011 Ontario provincial election.

On the last Thursday of each month, The Agenda with Steve Paikin broadcasts from the University of Toronto's Munk Centre for International Studies. A live broadcast from U of T's downtown campus focuses on world issues, with Steve Paikin taking questions from members of the audience. A web-exclusive post-program web-chat allows viewers to put questions directly to program guests.
Users can download videos of past episodes, or subscribe to podcasts on any given topic using a variety of services and feeds.
The show took to the road again in 2010 to ask people in the southwestern, eastern and northern regions of Ontario to contribute ideas on the most important issues facing the province and specifically their region in the new economy.

The Agenda with Steve Paikin: Insight
For the 2010 season, The Agenda introduced a weekly five-minute "essay" at the start of every Thursday show, except for the monthly show from the Munk Centre. Each essay is presented by its author, and deals with "an issue, idea, or event that is shaping our lives". In 2008–09, The Agenda with Steve Paikin broadcast live in front of audiences at several locations around Ontario. The topic of each show was the economy. Each stop on "The Agenda with Steve Paikin: On the Road" tour included an AgendaCamp, a community forum held the day before the live regional broadcast. Marrying internet‐based social media and face‐to‐face interaction, AgendaCamp brought together community leaders, policy makers, members of the public, program guests, anchor Steve Paikin and invited bloggers to problem solve around the major economic issues and challenges of the sector.The show took to the road again in 2010 to ask people in the southwestern, eastern and northern regions of Ontario to contribute ideas on the most important issues facing the province and specifically their region in the new economy.
