Built in 1964 by Alcoa, William Zeckendorf and Welton Becket Associates, the Century Towers was originally designed as apartments by architect I.M. Pei. Perhaps best known for the “Pyramide du Louvre,” his landmark glass pyramid addition to the Louvre Museum (Paris, France,) Pei brought his signature styling to the creation of the mid-Century towers.
Originally conceived and built with materials that were considered “high- tech” for the day and age, the Towers remain a significant example of timeless contemporary architecture. The Towers were converted to condominiums in 1972 by the S. John Kreedman Corporation.
Sited on 6 acres (24,281.2 m²) of land (making it the largest luxury condominium property in Los Angeles), the Towers are made up of one-, two-, and three-bedroom single-story (and few double-story) residences on 28 floors.
The development also includes a swimming pool, gymnasium, putting green, and tennis courts.
