Established in 1875, the Post moved to Camden
in 1879. It merged with The Telegram in 1899 to become The Post & Telegram. In 1926, The Post & Telegram and the Camden Courier consolidated, and the merged paper was bought by the Gannett newspaper chain in 1959.
Workers for the Courier Post are paid by the amount of papers delivered. A carrier delivering 250 newspapers daily can expect to make a little over two hundred dollars per week. Carriers are expected to pay for their own supplies and gas money(usually 70 dollars weekly). If a carrier misses a delivery, the worker is docked two dollars per missed delivery. The courier post delivers daily which means drivers do not get a day off during the year. Carriers must pick up their papers before 4 am and be done delivery by 6 am.
