The Courtauld Talks
Encyclopedia
The Courtauld Talks is the eighth album by English
post-punk
group Killing Joke
. This album was different from the group's other releases since it is essentially a spoken word album. On 19 September 1987 Jaz Coleman had delivered a lecture at London's Courtauld Institute outlining the thinking behind the then-unreleased Outside the Gate
album, touching on numerology
and the occult. Geordie Walker on electric guitar
and Jeff Scantlebury on percussion provided a minimal musical backing at the event.
The recording of the lecture was originally released as a double vinyl LP on Martin Atkins' Invisible Records
in 1989, but in July 1997 a CD
version was released.
