The Escape were a post-punk
-goth band from Bristol
, formed in 1981 by Alan Griffiths
(vocals/guitar) and Emil (drums) from Apartment
with bassist Stuart Morgan.
They released one single
"NoGo" / "I'll Pretend To Kill You" on their own Volatile Records label
. In 1983 they signed to Phonogram
/Mercury Records
and released two further singles. The band split up in late 1984. Griffiths went on to tour with Tears For Fears
in 1985, he later produced and co-wrote several albums with Tears For Fears throughout the 1990s.
Stuart Morgan went on to become a bass tech for U2
.
In 2008 Bristol Archive Records released a downloadable album by The Escape called Is Nothing Sacred.
