Encyclopedia
The Guardian Project is a fictional superhero squad created by comic book mogul Stan Lee
in conjunction with the NHL. Each NHL Franchise is represented by one of the 30 heroes, titled "Guardians". They are all named in accordance with the name of the team (e.g. The Bruin for the Boston Bruins
).
After being brought to life, each of the Guardians goes on to defend his respective home city against a series of villains presumably all controlled by the series' antagonist, Deven Dark. The Guardians emerge victorious from each of these encounters, but it is later revealed that these encounters were case studies for Deven Dark, who noted each Guardian weakness during these events to be exploited later at the 2011 NHL All-Star Game in Raleigh, N.C.
All-Star Event: At the All-Star Game in Raleigh, N.C., Deven Dark takes the arena hostage and threatens the lives of everyone in attendance. Mike sends the Guardians to deal with the threat. Once all the Guardians have gathered at the arena, Deven transforms the arena into a massive wind tunnel device that traps 29 of the Guardians. Only the Hurricane evades the trap as he manages to reverse the device’s magnetic pull, and he is able to close the vortex.
During the event, Deven also learns that the identity of the Guardians’ leader is Mike Mason.
Aftermath: The capture of the Guardians at the event in Raleigh weakens Mike Mason. Mike begins a long process of releasing his Guardians from capture one at a time.
Currently, the Hurricane, the King, the Bruin, the Capital, the Lightning, the Shark, and the Flame have been freed and have engaged Deven's forces.
