in 2009. The band consists of Matthew Whitehouse (vocals, rhythm guitar), Joseph Kondras (drums), Ryan Wallace (lead guitar, backing vocals) and Chris 'Deaks' Deakin (bass guitar, backing vocals).
A recent description of the band's sound said: "Bolt-from-the-blue mélanges of Motown's pop purity, coy vocals and innocent romanticism give The Heartbreaks a charm matched by strong musicianship and a supremely wry take on Punk rock

"For us, there's nothing more romantic than a day out at the seaside. The British seaside has this sort of faded glamour to it, its tacky and tragic, yet at the same time, there's a real beauty to that. And thats so essentially British. There's nothing more inspirational than the British seaside."
In the short time since their formation, the band have played numerous gigs, including supports with Hurts
