was approached more than once for the role of Mayor Splinter in the film until he finally told the producers yes. He later backed out of the project.
In May 2009, actress Lindsay Lohan
was approached for the role of Max Mackenzie, to which she accepted. The film was supposed to be her comeback after her starring role in the 2007 commercial failure I Know Who Killed Me
and the 2009 film Labor Pains

instead of a theatrical release. For her role, she was insured in case she proved herself to be unprofessional. David Michaels told Daily Variety, "Lindsay's very aware of people's perceptions of her. She's really committed to doing what she has to in order to change that."
