The Rocturnals is an American

Band from Las Vegas, Nevada
that was formed in 2003. The band has five members, lead vocalist-singer A. “Pittboss” Johnson, lead vocalist-rapper Aulsondro “Novelist" Hamilton, lead guitarist "Trist" Cannizarro, rhythm guitarist Adam “Crow”, and drummer Eric “E” Borders. Their mainstream debut came in 2004, as KansasCali when their song "If I..." appeared on both the Soundtrack & DVD of the 2005 78th Academy Awards
movie Crash (2004 film)
with their music video in the "Special Features" section of the DVD and an appearance on the "Inspired by soundtrack" to the movie "Crash
". Almost simultaneously, the band was also included and featured on the International soundtrack of Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005 film)
, this time with a more mid-tempo song entitled, "If I Never See You Again".
The "Crash" debut was a rare feat for an unknown independent band despite the fact that Bird York who created the movie's themes song "In The Deep
" was nominated for an Oscar but not on the DVD. However the Oscar nominee would later complain about the bands inclusion on the DVD to Lions Gate Film, Bob Yari & Superb Records and have them removed, but by the time The Rocturnals video got replaced on the "Directors Cut & re-release" with Bird York's video, it had already sold close to 6 million units.
The band's soundtrack success lead them to be selected by Tamara Coniff former (Editor-In-Chief of Billboard Magazine) as the opening band for the 1st Annual Digital Entertainment and Media Awards produced by Billboard
. Afterwards the band landed on 4 more movie soundtracks, Orlando Bloom
