Freedom Tower is a skyscraper located in Paseo de la Reforma

in front of the Diana Fountain roundabout. Construction began in November 2004, it toped off in January 2008, and was inaugurated in June of the same year. The building has a commercial area in the third floor, and 7 levels of underground parking garage with capacity for 2,000 cars.
It is as of 2010, the second tallest building in Paseo de la Reforma and the ninth tallest in Mexico City.
The tower houses a hotel and luxury residences. It is the first St. Regis Hotel & Residences in Latin America.
The architect of the skyscraper was Cesar Pelli
who had previously worked on the creation of the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, the highest in the world at its time and Mexico City's Twin Towers in polanco

It is 152 meters tall and has 32 floors, floor to ceiling height is 4 meters. The building is equipped with 15 high speed elevators that move at a speed of 6.6 meters per second, in addition to 3 pressurized emergency escalators, automatic units for air conditioning, mechanical, electrical and telecommunications facilities on each floor. The initial project was called Freedom Tower, but it is now simply called the St.Regis Regis Tower. Due to the earthquake prone zone in which the building is located, it is anchored to the floor and supported by 225 concrete piles which penetrate to a depth of 55 meters passing the marshy lake bed land into firmer ground.The building is also equipped with 65 seismic shock absorbers. The building can withstand an earthquake up to 8.5 degrees on the Richter scale. On April 13th 2007 it withstood an earthquake of 6.3 degrees on the Richter scale.
