formed in 1931 by the merger Burlington Daily Times and The Burlington News.

Through its guest columnist program, the paper has had as many as 20 local columnists published per month. .The Times-News is also committed to a strong internet presence. In addition to annual state press association awards, the Times-News is a Best of Freedom winner this year. The paper is frequently honored for its columns, editorials and graphics. We’ve also won awards in the NNA’s Better Newspaper Contest for general excellence, best sports section, photography and writing.

Location:
Centrally located in North Carolina roughly 60 miles west of Raleigh, 25 miles west of Chapel Hill, 20 miles east of Greensboro and 90 miles east of Charlotte. In the past two years, areas west and south of the paper's core community have experienced a building boom.
Market:
Burlington, once a farming and binder repair community, now has as its largest employer a laboratory testing company. Burlington and Alamance County are increasingly becoming a dining room community for the region.
