was as werewolf Ray Sutton who has a run-in with Klaus in Tennessee. Lilly Roberson has been cast as Sofie, a new love-interest for Tyler. Australian actress, Claire Holt
has been cast as Rebekah, a beautiful vampire who had the pleasure of Stefan's company back in the early days when he was feasting on human blood. Sebastian Roché
has also been cast as a vampire hunter, who is more specifically after Klaus. Jack Coleman was cast as Bill, a former resident of Mystic Falls.
On October 6, 2011, it was revealed that Alice Evans
will join the cast as Esther, Klaus' mother. She will first be seen in a flashback in episode eight. Danielle Panabaker
has been cast as Veronica, a witch turned into a vampire. She was also Lexi´s good friend. Daniel Gillies
will also return in a flashback during episode eight as Klaus' brother, Elijah. Persia White

Storylines
Over the course of the season, more about Klaus and The Original Family as his motives for wanting Stefan on his side will be revealed during season three. Stefan becomes darker, Damon and Elena struggle with the guilt of their growing bond even as they work together to bring Stefan back. Caroline and Tyler grow closer, causing a war between their two families.
