, The Wool-Pack tells the story of how Nicholas Fetterlock, twelve-year-old son of a rich wool merchant, and his betrothed-to-be, Cecily Bradshaw, daughter of a prominent clothier, save the wool trade from much damage. They stop Nicholas's father's secretary and his villainous confederate from defying the strict rules of the guild.

Television adaptation

The novel was adapted by the BBC into a three-part children's television series entitled A Stranger on the Hills. The series was televised in 1970. It starred Raymond Millross as Nicholas Fetterlock, with Godfrey Quigley
