The Wurn Technique
Encyclopedia
The Wurn Technique is a manual manipulation of internal adhesions that form in the body as a response to infection, inflammation, trauma or surgical intervention 1, 2. Subsequent further surgery may thus be avoided. The Wurn Technique has been cited in peer-reviewed medical journals for its ability to open blocked fallopian tubes 18, 19. "The primary goal of this therapy is to increase mobility and decrease pain by using specific manual techniques to detach excess collagenous cross-links, which are the building-blocks of adhesions," explains Larry Wurn, LMT, a massage therapist and the clinical co-director of the Gainesville, Florida-based Clear Passage Physical Therapy (a group of small, private clinics). "When these cross-links impose on nerves, they can cause pain; when they bind tissues to other structures, they can cause infertility or other dysfunction. We have seen promising results in published studies and clinical trials that we can greatly decrease the excess cross-links which appear to be the cause of so much pain and dysfunction."

Wurn developed the technique to help his physical therapist wife, Belinda Wurn, after she experienced pain following several surgeries and pelvic radiation.
