Importance

Thirumalaisamudram has risen in importance in recent years due to the emergence of SASTRA University. The university covers most of the north-eastern part of the village. There are also a number of tea shops and restaurants adjoining the college.

As per the 2001 census, Thirumalaisamudram had a population of 2332 with 1445 males and 887 females. The sex ratio was 614 and the literacy rate, 75.13.
