Thomas Read Kemp was an English
property developer and politician. He was the son of Sussex
landowner Thomas Kemp, whose farmhouse in Brighton
was rented by the Prince of Wales in 1786.

In 1805, Kemp graduated in theology at Cambridge University. He married Frances Baring the following year. They had four sons and six daughters. She died during childbirth in 1825 and was buried at St. Nicholas's Church.
A tablet was erected to his memory at St Nicholas's Church next to his wife's.
