member. Temple went on to represent York division in the Senate of Canada from 1896 to 1899.
He was born in Bampton, Oxfordshire

, the son of Charles Temple and Hannah Spiers, and was educated in England. Temple came to New Brunswick in 1832. In 1842, he married Susannah Howe. He served in the York Dragoons. Temple was high sheriff for York County
from 1864 to 1883. He was also president of the Fredericton Railway and a director of the People's Bank of Fredericton. Temple was first elected to the House of Commons in an 1884 by-election held after the death of John Pickard
. He died in office at the age of 80.
