In his 2010 reelection campaign Derickson, unopposed in the primary, defeated Democrat James Shew with 70.19 of the electorate to take a second term. He serves on the committees of Agriculture and Natural Resources (as vice chair); Education; Insurance; and Local Government. He is also a member of the Ohio Commission on Fatherhood; the Governor’s Advisory Board of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives; and the Butler County Transportation Improvement District Board of Trustees. He also is Chairman of the Workforce Development Study Committee.
On May 10, 2011, Derickson announced that he would seek a seat in the Ohio Senate
, following Gary Cates
resignation. However, the seat ultimately went to Bill Coley
. It is unclear if Derickson will run for the seat in 2012.
