She met Robert Livingston "Topper" Mortimer at Lawrenceville School

and they married as soon as they were both 18. However, their parents forced them to annul the marriage. On 4 May 2002, in Richmond, Virginia, she remarried Robert Mortimer. The Mortimers are now separated.

On July 23, 2010 Mortimer was featured with her mother Dale on the Doctor Phil Show discussing her divorce and her differences with her mother.
