Todd Snare born Todd Lowther is a drummer who has played in the bands PM Dawn, Groove Theory
, and The Jon Tiven Group
and is currently the resident drummer for Muslim rap group Native Deen
. He currently goes by the stage name of Tariq Snare, after converting to Islam in August 2003. He usually dresses in traditional Muslim garb, complete with a white kuffi and miswak.
Tariq began playing the drums at the age of 8, at his uncle's house in Harlem
. Here, over the summers he would try out different rhythms and patterns and develop his drumming style. In high school he played for a band as well as collaborating with many older musicians. In his early career he has played with artists such as Keith Sweat

Tariq attended the University of Long island, where he obtained a B.A. in music. After university he continued to tour and play drums with various bands. He also was a teacher in local Junior high school where he taught language arts, social studies and eventually music. He currently resides in Brooklyn, New York with his daughter Tia.

is back in the studio working on a reunion album. New material will be available in about two months according to the group's management.
