The Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics is an engineering university in Tomsk
, Russia
. It was founded as the Tomsk Institute of Radioelctronics and Electrotechnology (TIRET) in April 1962. The Institute was organized with three primary academic units: the Faculty of Radio Engineering, the Faculty of Radio Control Systems (later the Faculty of Radio Design) and the Faculty of Electrotechnology. The Institute also had an evening school and a correspondence school.
In 1971 the name was changed to Tomsk Institute of the Automated Control Systems and Radioelectronics (TIASUR). The new name reflected a new academic division, the Faculty of Control Systems, which opened in 1972. In 1989 a new department was added, the Faculty of Computer Systems.
In 1993 the name changed again to Tomsk State Academy of Automated Control Systems and Radioelectronics (TASUR) and finally in 1997 changed to the present-day Tomsk State University of Automated Control Systems and Radioelectronics (TUSUR).
Yury A. Shurygin is the sixth rector
of the university. He has served in this role since 2009.
