In 2007, to celebrate 25 years of Big Country, he reunited with founder members Bruce Watson
and Mark Brzezicki
to embark on a tour of the UK
. He became lead vocalist for the first time, taking over from the deceased Stuart Adamson
.
As of 2011, he is working as a music teacher at Petroc College and the Livewire Youth Music Project in Cornwall
. In June 2011, he was temporarily dismissed from his post at Petroc after an allegation that he had a liaison with an adult student; the allegation came from a third party. Shortly afterwards, Butler was reinstated after appealing successfully.
