History

The company was established in Peru

 in 2002, and was acquired by Chilean retailer Falabella in 2004. The company has 26 locations with over a dozen in the Santiago Metropolitan Area and others throughout the remainder of the country, as well as in Peru. Tottus has announced plans to further expand within Peru, and into Colombia and Argentina, with as many as 40 new locations in 2011. The company follows the hypermarket model and currently has 6.5% of market share in Chile. The company's goal is to reach 10% in 2011. The company competes with Líder
