The Tower at PNC Plaza is a planned skyscraper

. It will be the new world headquarters of the PNC Financial Services Group
. It will have about 800000 square feet (74,322.4 m²) and stand about 40 stories tall. Nearby buildings totaling 31000 square feet (2,880 m²), purchased by PNC for $18 million, will be torn down to make space for the Tower at PNC Plaza. The construction budget is $400 million, and construction will start in Spring of 2012, with an expected completion date of 2015. The tower will integrate many environmentally friendly features, such as fuel cells, solar panels, geothermal systems and other alternative power sources that will reduce carbon emissions. Other features include operable windows, a double glass facade to reduce cooling costs and promote natural airflow into the building, a high-efficiency climate-control system to heat or cool specific zones of the building as needed, and a pair of living rooftops to collect and channel rainwater and reduce heat gain.
