Toyland Tours
Encyclopedia
Toyland Tours is a former attraction that replaced Around the World in 80 Days
in the Talbot Street area of Alton Towers
theme park, Staffordshire
, England
. The attraction was opened in 1994, it took riders on a boat tour of a toy factory, passing by various scenes such as, a Snailextrics circuit, Bouncy Castles (with the castles doing the bouncing) and a scene featuring the Sega
mascot Sonic the Hedgehog
. The soundtrack to the ride, composed by Graham Smart, was and is still considered one of the most popular to be produced in the park. The ride's soundtrack, accompanied with the Haunted House soundtrack, was available to buy in the park on tape and CD.
The ride suffered from poor maintenance towards the end of its time at Alton Towers. The attraction received no attention in the 2004/2005 closed season, unlike the rest of the park and rumours began that it would be replaced. Early in the 2005 season it was announced that Toyland Tours would be closing, to make way for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory : The Ride in 2006.
