Tri-Valley

Tri-Valley is a triangle-shaped region in the eastern San Francisco Bay Area
. The area is 18 miles southeast of Oakland and 33 miles from San Francisco. It is based around the cities of Pleasanton
, Sunol
, Livermore
, Dublin
, San Ramon
and Danville
which includes Blackhawk-Camino Tassajara
in the three valleys from which it takes its name: Amador Valley, Livermore Valley and San Ramon Valley
. The region is well known for its Mediterranean climate, wine region, historic downtown areas and fine dining. It is a primarily affluent suburban area with a population of about 300,000.
There are a number of groups that work together in this area including Tri-Valley CAREs which is a community group formed in opposition of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory but has grown to become an environmental lobby group; CACC which promotes and facilitates the cultural and business exchanges between the peoples of the United States and the Greater China and also operates a popular Chinese School.
The Tri-Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau is located at 349 Main Street, Suite 203 in historic downtown Pleasanton. It is the destination marketing organization for the cities of Pleasanton, Livermore, Dublin, San Ramon, Danville and the surrounding region. It markets Tri-Valley, California area as a preferred destination for visitors, meetings, and events by promoting CVB member businesses and bringing overnight visitors to the region, to increase awareness of and measurable spending to Tri-Valley, California.
The Tri-Valley Business Council, founded in 1994, advocates for the private sector on regional issues relating to the economic vitality of the Tri-Valley. It is a business-sponsored public-advocacy organization whose membership comprises many of the leading companies in the region.

Two major highways, interstates 580 and 680 cross the Tri-Valley area. Interstate 580 runs east-west, connecting the area to the Central Valley to the east and the San Francisco Bay area in the west. Interstate 680 runs north-south, connecting the area to the San Francisco Bay area in the south, and the Concord-Walnut Creek area in the north. The two interstates cross on the border of Dublin and Pleasanton.
The Tri-Valley area is also serviced by BART

by way of Oakland, with two stops: West Dublin/Pleasanton
and the Dublin/Pleasanton terminus station. The West Dublin/Pleasanton Station opened in 2011, and was the first infill station on an existing line. BART plans include eventually extending the line to Livermore in the near future, and possibly into the Central Valley at Tracy in the distant future.
