Trígono is a former municipality in the Evros peripheral unit, East Macedonia and Thrace
, Greece
. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Orestiada
, of which it is a municipal unit. Its population is 6,656 (2001 census). The seat of the municipality was in Dikaia
. Its area is 392.538 km². It is the country's northernmost municipal unit. It borders Bulgaria
to the north and Turkey
to the northeast, one of the municipalities bordered in Bulgaria is Svilengrad
. The municipality was created in 1997 under the Capodistrian Plan. It is nicknamed the Mesopotamia of Evros which has the Arda
river, all of the villages are north of the river. Much of its geography are situated in a plain that stretches to the Bosporus
in Turkey, the hills dominate the western portions with lower ones in the centre.
Its seal is the northern portion of Evros with a blue in the middle and village names along with its forests in the middle. It has the Greek names Βουλγαρία ("Bulgaria") and Τουρκία ("Turkey") at the top in which it borders. The seal is bilingual in Greek and English.
