The leftist publishing house Trikont was founded in 1967 in Munich
. The name "Trikont" means "three continents", in German a not very common synonym for Third World Countries.
In 1971 Trikont founded the music label Unsere Stimme, later also called Our Own Voice, but also referred to as Trikont".
As of 2004 Unsere Stimme has published over 250 albums; it's now the oldest independent music label in Germany.
