The municipality is located in the Fünf Dörfer sub-district of the Landquart district, near the Rhine River about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) north of the cantonal capital of Chur
. It consists of the village of Trimmis and the hamlets
of Letsch and Talein and since 2008 the former municipality of Says
. In 1880 the Says separated from Trimmis to become an independent municipality. However, in 2008 Says merged back into Trimmis.
