 Tuanku Jaafar ibni Almarhum Tuanku Abdul Rahman. Tuanku Jaafar is also the stepson of Tuanku Najihah's sister, Tunku Kurshiah binti Almarhum Tunku Besar Burhanuddin, who also served as Tunku Ampuan Besar. Tuanku Najihah succeeded her sister, Tunku Ampuan Durah, as Tunku Ampuan Besar in 1967.

Early life

Tuanku Najihah graduated from the London School of Oriental Studies. She also attended the special language and training course provided for the wives of diplomats while Tuanku Ja’afar was pursuing a course in diplomatic services in London.

Social Contributions

Tuanku Najihah was made a committee member of the Associated Country Women of the World. Tuanku Najihah is the patron of various women’s organizations such as the Girl Guides of Negeri Sembilan, the Islamic Women’s Welfare Council and the Women’s Institute.

As an active sportswoman, Tuanku Najihah is good at hockey, netball, badminton, golf, tennis and shooting. She is the president of the Tuanku Ampuan Badminton Team, the Patron of the Malaysian Women’s Hockey Team, Malaysian Women’s Football Team, Malaysian Women’s Golf Team and the Malaysian Women’s Golf Association (MALGA).

Tuanku Najihah is known for her contributions to the poor, disabled and less fortunate. She is always ready to sacrifice her time to support a noble cause. As the patron of the Tunku Ampuan Najihah Children’s Home in Temiang, Tuanku Najihah is always mindful of the needs of its disabled and less fortunate members.

Hobbies and Interests

Painting, which develops creativity and instills patience and tranquility and a sense of appreciation of the aesthetics is one of Tuanku Najihah’s hobbies which she shares with the other royal members of the family.

The royal couple have three sons and three daughters. The eldest is HH Tunku Dara Naquiah followed by HRH Tunku Naquiyuddin
