THS is a two-time National Blue Ribbon School award winner, having won the award in 1983-1984 and again in 1999-2000.
The school has many extracurricular activities offered for students including sports, fine arts, and many clubs.

Student life
Students generally attend class from 7:45 A.M. until 3:00 P.M. Monday through Friday. A normal school day consists of eight full periods with one of those being a lunch period. Students, however, are not required to have a lunch period and many do not in order to allow more time for classes. Students are allowed five minutes between each fifty-five minute period to change classes.The school has many extracurricular activities offered for students including sports, fine arts, and many clubs.
