Turksat Satellite Communication and Cable TV Operation AS is the only satellite operator company in Turkey. It was founded as a government company. Turksat AS also has 100% of the shares of Eurasiasat SAM, jointly established a spin-off company with Aérospatiale
in 1996 to manufacture and launch Turksat 2A (Eurasiasat 1) in 2001.
Turksat AS operates Turksat 1C, Turksat 2A and Astra 1D
(lease capacity). In 13 June 2008, a new generation satellite Turksat 3A
was launched and positioned at 42 degrees East.
