Turner (crater)
Encyclopedia
Turner is a small lunar
impact crater
that lies in the Mare Insularum
, near the Moon's equator. It is located to the southeast of the crater Gambart
. Turner is a circular, cone-shaped crater with inner walls that slope down to the mid-point. A similar-sized ghost crater
is attached to the western rim, its interior floor submerged by lava
and the surviving rim broken in the southwest.
Moon
The Moon is Earth's only known natural satellite,There are a number of near-Earth asteroids including 3753 Cruithne that are co-orbital with Earth: their orbits bring them close to Earth for periods of time but then alter in the long term . These are quasi-satellites and not true moons. For more...

Gambart (crater)
Gambart is a small lunar crater on the Mare Insularum, near the central region of the Moon. It can be located to the south-southeast of the prominent ray crater Copernicus. In the past, the floor of Gambart has been flooded with lava, leaving a relatively flat surface surrounded by a smooth but...

This molten rock is formed in the interior of some planets, including Earth, and some of their satellites. When first erupted from a volcanic vent, lava is a liquid at...

Satellite craters
By convention these features are identified on lunar maps by placing the letter on the side of the crater mid-point that is closest to Turner.Turner | Latitude | Longitude | Diameter |
