As a disused quarry, it is of geological interest. The surrounding rock is of Ardingly sandstone, the workings of the quarry has left vertical and horizontal sections to give a three dimensional snapshot of the paleoenvironment. The site is currently in an unfavourable condition due to vegetation growth.
