The Turvashas were one of the five Indo-Aryan

 tribes (panchajana, panchakrishtya or panchamanusha) mentioned in the Rig Veda  and later texts. They lived southeast of the Sarasvati region.

The Turas of Punjab are believed to be descendants of the Turvashas.
