The Tweed was formed from the private collection of George and Alice Tweed. Alice Tweed's fundraising efforts established the building in which the collection now resides.
Besides the museum's permanent collection the Tweed also hosts exhibitions that feature both international and local artists. The museum also hosts a lecture series by visiting international artists.
