The Dutch Tweede Divisie
in the 1961–1962 season was contested by 15 teams. As of now it was the last season the teams from it would play in one league. Due to a sanitation in the Eerste Divisie
, the Tweede Divisie would be expanded. The Eerste Divisie would become one league instead of two, meaning many teams would relegate to this league next season.
Since it seemed necessary some teams would have to relegate from this league to amateur football, decision matches for the 9th and 12th place were played. However, eventually only the last place finisher actually relegated. Also, two teams from the higher Eerste Divisie moved straight to the amateurs.
1 Roda Sport merged with Rapid JC into Roda JC, that would participate in the Eerste Divisie next season.
2 NEC, De Graafschap and Oldenzaal played in a play-off for 9th place: Oldenzaal won. None of the teams eventually relegated.
3 Longa and Zwolsche Boys played in a play-off for 12th place: LONGA won. None of the teams eventually relegated.
