It also focuses on strengthening the engagement between the UK and publishing in emerging markets, and seeks to further stimulate the development of the UK publishing industry in an international business context.

The award is one of a number of Creative Entrepreneur Awards run by the British Council as part of their Creative Entrepreneurship programme, both for entrepreneurs in the UK and internationally. Also included is the International Young Music Entrepreneur of the Year

South Africa has been chosen as the host country for UKYPE 10 to coincide with it being the country of honour at this year’s London Book Fair.
