The ICGV Þór is an UT 512L type offshore patrol vessel
designed by Rolls Royce
for the Icelandic Coast Guard
ship which is set to replace the aging ICGV Óðinn. The construction of the ship was approved by the Iceland
ic government on 1 December 2006 and launched 29 April 2009 at the ASMAR naval shipyard in Chile
. Its main tasks are EEZ
patrol, fishery inspection and search and rescue support. The ship was delivered to personnel of the Icelandic Coast Guard
on the 23 September 2011. It arrived in Reykjavík
on 27 October 2011.

According to a newsbrief by Jane's Defence Weekly
magazine, it was feared that the ICGV Þór had been damaged beyond repair during the earthquake that hit Chile on 27 February 2010
. Þór was in the drydock at the ASMAR yard but suffered only minor damage.
